The Moselle and Saar are among the most popular rivers in the world.

Both rivers wind through the most beautiful part of the states of Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland, where the nearby mountains and many cozy wine villages form the setting for a fantastic nature experience on the lovely ship M/S Leonora

The combination of changing nature and cultural experiences is not better experienced than on a cruise on the Moselle and Saar.

The ship glides quietly from one charming wine town to another, where wine tastings are of course part of the program. The atmosphere, the medieval castles, the towns with half-timbered houses, small cozy streets and the calm conduct of the ship itself, is difficult to describe in a sufficiently idyllic way. Day 1 :

Koblenz

On board MS Leonora, the Ship’s Cruise Manager will be welcomed in the Lounge after arrival, where safety procedures and practical information on board will be reviewed.

As soon as all guests are on board, the ship departs from the quay in Koblenz and sails into the picturesque Moselle to the small cozy wine town, Alken.

Dinner

Day 2 :

Alken - Bernkastel-Kues

Early in the morning, M/S Leonora leaves Alken and sails upstream to the “Pearl of the Moselle” Bernkastel-Kues. Enjoy the first part of the trip all morning and morning from the ship’s sun deck – we arrive in Bernkastel-Kues after enjoying a wonderful lunch on board.

Bernkastel-Kues is an indescribably charming town whose buildings date back to the late Middle Ages. From the old market square there are small streets and alleys with adorable houses, pavement cafés and shops. Yes – Bernkastel-Kues is a true fairytale town.

Day 3 :

Bernkastel-Kues - Saarburg

M/S Leonora leaves the quay in Bernkastel-Kues before breakfast, and today you will enjoy a beautiful sailing up the Moselle and onto the river Saar to the enchanting Saarburg.

We arrive in Saarburg after lunch, where a city tour is arranged on foot into the city center with the many wonderful cafes located in the most beautiful surroundings. The ship stays in Saarburg overnight, and there is plenty of opportunity to experience the city in the evening.

Day 4 :

Saarburg - Merzig

During breakfast, M/S Leonora sails further up the Saar and into the Saarland to the city of Merzig, where we arrive at noon. After lunch, we move on foot towards the city center, which offers many impressive buildings – partly in the 1700s Baroque style and partly in Art Nouveau style. You could also choose to take in some of the many sidewalk cafes that adorn the city’s squares and streets.

Day 5 :

Merzig – Mehring (Trier)

M/S Leonora leaves the quay in Merzig early in the morning and heads for Germany’s oldest city Trier.

Early in the afternoon, we dock in the small town of Mehring – 18 kilometers from Trier. After a short bus ride, we will arrive in Trier itself, ready to take in this amazing city founded by the Roman emperor, Julius Caesar.

He named the city Augusta Treverorum, and the city became the regional capital of the Gallic part of the Roman Empire. Trier oozes culture and Holy Roman history, dating back to the year 100 AD.

After the city tour around Trier, it’s time to experience Trier on your own. There is plenty of opportunity to shop on the long pedestrian street with the many magnificent shops.

Day 6 :

Mehring – Traben Trarbach

Early in the morning, M/S Leonora sails further down the Moselle to the wine town of Traben Trarbach.

Traben Trarbach is a small town in the middle of the Moselle Valley. The cities have been united by a bridge over the The Moselle since 1898 and with its surrounding areas, the city has just over 6,000 inhabitants.

After city fires in Trarbach in 1858 and in Traben in 1879, the town has been rebuilt in Art Nouveau. The castle ruins of the castle Grevensburg, built in 1350, lie above Trarbach, and the town has previously been a centre for wine trade on the Moselle. Of course, we offer a visit to one of the local wineries.

Day 7 :

Bernkastel-Kues – Cochem - Koblenz

M/S Leonora leaves the quay in Traben-Trarbach early in the morning and heads back towards Koblenz. We arrive in Koblenz during lunch, and immediately after we depart on a city tour of Koblenz on foot. The ship is very centrally located, and it is just a few hundred meters to walk to the Altstadt – the old town.

Also on the penultimate day of the trip, there is the opportunity to shop. Koblenz has about 110,000 inhabitants, and the city has everything your heart desires.

Day 8 :

Koblenz

An unforgettable river cruise on the Moselle and Rhine is over for this time.
